My illustrated for page inside "Xi Shi" story of 4 Beauties storybook. This project is remaster chinese painting from Hua San Chuan. It's watercolor painting.
Xi Shi is Fairest Beauty of Ancient China with looks powerful enough to bring down the kingdom. She lived during the end of Spring and Autumn Period. She lived in Zhuji, the capital of the ancient state Yue. Xi Shi is seen as a woman-hero of ancient China, and not a villain that caused the downfall of a Kingdom. She was certainly an empowered woman, but perhaps not in exactly in the way that we imagine that women become empowered in our modern world. |
